Project Brief
In partnership with Feed The Hungry UK, Games 4 Good is on a mission to combat food insecurity in the UK by expanding Community Pantries across Leicestershire and Warwickshire. With an estimated 7.2 million people in food insecure households, our goal is to provide sustainable food solutions and support to families in need.
Location: Leicestershire or Warwickshire
Funds Needed: $1,050
The Need
Food insecurity is a growing issue in the UK, affecting families and individuals primarily due to low household income. Factors such as mental and physical disabilities, job loss, debt, and unstable employment contribute to this crisis. In 2022/23, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) reported that 7.2 million people were living in food insecure households, an increase of 2.5 million since the previous year.
The Solution
Feed The Hungry UK operates Community Pantries that serve as low-cost or subsidized supermarkets, providing members with groceries at an average discount of 80%. Membership is means-tested, ensuring that support reaches those who truly need it.
Beyond providing subsidised food, FTH Pantry members receive wrap-around support to address the underlying causes of their situations, including budgeting advice and training. Membership lasts for an initial six months but can be extended if necessary. While some pantries are located in fixed sites like church halls, a Mobile Community Pantry visits rural areas weekly.
Each pantry is equipped with essential appliances such as fridges and freezers, allowing members to choose from a variety of chilled and frozen food items during their weekly shop.

The Opportunity
Feed The Hungry UK aims to expand its vital Community Pantries and create more lifelines throughout Leicestershire and Warwickshire, but they need support to make this vision a reality. Essential equipment like commercial fridges and freezers is crucial for storing fresh food and ensuring that families have access to nutritious meals.
By partnering with Games 4 Good, donors can provide a fridge or freezer for just $1,050, making a tangible difference in the lives of at-risk families and vulnerable individuals in the UK. This generosity will help sustain the important initiative, bringing hope and support to those in need.
