Project Brief
Games 4 Good are looking to support Stepping Stone Charitable Trust, who are working to improve the nutritional health of 140 children in two schools located in rural tribal communities in India. The impact of this initiative aims to uplift these communities by addressing malnutrition and enhancing academic performance through the provision of essential multivitamins and glucose biscuits.
Location: India
Funds Needed: $3,000
The Need
Stepping Stone Charitable Trust collaborates with two schools. The first is Grace Public School in Serango, operating out of a rented house, with 20 children and two teachers. The second is Grace Public School in Samudra Buduni, approximately 105 km from Serango, which has 120 students and 10 teachers. Both schools are located in very rural areas, predominantly inhabited by tribal communities with low literacy rates and limited development. The benefits of national development have yet to reach these communities. Malnutrition, rooted in poverty, is a significant issue. The local diet, primarily consisting of what is grown locally, often lacks nutritional value. Breakfast typically consists of tea and bread, without the luxury of eggs or proteins. As a result, students attend school with low energy levels, hindering their concentration and academic performance, perpetuating the cycle of poverty.
The Solution
Multivitamins are formulated to boost immunity, enhance concentration, and optimise learning potential. In this project, children will receive a daily dosage of 5ml of multivitamins alongside a glucose biscuit, aiming to improve their overall well-being and happiness.
School staff will distribute daily vitamins and biscuits at school. Initial health assessments will track weight, height, energy levels, and concentration, with follow-up evaluations every 60 days.
Multivitamins will strengthen students' immunity, helping them better resist common illnesses, and will bring improved concentration and participation levels in school, both of which which will lead to significant academic enhancement.
Additionally, the project offers medicinal benefits: essential vitamins will support energy levels and promote overall health. For example, they will aid in collagen production for healthier hair and skin and play key roles in critical body processes, such as neurotransmitter production and DNA synthesis.
By providing this targeted nutritional support, Stepping Stones aim to create a healthier and more productive learning environment for the students.
The Opportunity
For just $3,000 we can provide essential nutrients to all 140 students for an entire academic year—just over $20 per student.
Regular assessments will be conducted by trained school staff to ensure students are benefiting from the initiative. We believe that healthier students will lead to greater participation in school activities and an eventual uplift in community literacy and development. By investing in the Nutritional Support Initiative, we can significantly improve the quality of life for these children and set them on a path toward a brighter future through education.
