Games 4 Good is looking to support Stepping Stone Charitable Trust in expanding classroom space at rural schools in India’s deprived tribal regions. These communities face extreme poverty and low literacy rates. This initiative will give children uninterrupted access to quality education, empowering them to break the cycle of poverty and build brighter futures.

The Need
Stepping Stone Charitable Trust currently operates two schools in remote areas. The first, a small school in Serango, is run in a rented facility, serving 20 young children with two teachers. The second, Grace Public School in Samudra Buduni, is a larger school about 105 km away, serving 120 students with 10 teachers. Both schools provide subsidised or free education to families, many of whom rely on subsistence farming and struggle to afford school-related expenses.
Due to limited classroom space at the Schools, students attend in shifts, resulting in shorter learning hours and increased strain on teachers and resources. While the school is committed to providing quality education, the lack of classrooms prevents it from expanding to meet community demand, including plans to add Grade 8.
The Solution
Stepping Stone Charitable Trust plans to build additional classrooms to improve the learning environment for all students. Currently, the school operates in two batches due to a shortage of classrooms. Each new classroom built will equip the school to accommodate more classes, gradually addressing this shortfall and eventually enabling the school to operate with a single batch. This transition will alleviate pressure on human resources, student transportation, and time management, ensuring students can attend school during the most productive hours. By increasing classroom space, teachers can adopt more efficient schedules, reducing resource strain and allowing for a more structured curriculum. This expansion aims to improve educational quality and accessibility, helping students to achieve their academic goals.

With a grant of $9,900, we can fund the construction of a new classroom and cover administrative costs, directly benefiting 120 children and their teachers at Grace Public School. This investment will ensure that students have a conducive learning space, equipping them to reach their potential and build a foundation for lifelong success.
