Project Brief
Games 4 Good is looking to support New Hope India in their Tribal Feeding Programme, which aims to provide meals to vulnerable members of the Kondh Dongria community in the Muniguda and Ambadola areas. This project seeks to address critical food insecurity by offering nutritious meals to elderly individuals, mothers and young children in these remote tribal communities.
Location: India
Funds Needed: $500
The Need
The Kondh Dongria community faces significant food insecurity due to their isolation, lack of resources, and limited access to education and healthcare. Elderly individuals, especially those with disabilities, often rely on begging to survive, while mothers and children suffer from malnutrition due to scarce access to nutritious food. Traditionally, these communities only have two meals a week, which further exacerbates the nutritional challenges.
New Hope India has been working to improve health outcomes through medical coverage and partnerships with Traditional Birth Attendants. However, malnutrition remains a pressing issue, particularly among mothers and young children, who face parasitic infections and vitamin deficiencies. Many women must travel long distances to nearby villages to sell forest goods, leaving them in need of meals during their journeys.
The Solution
New Hope India are working together to provide nutritious meals at the New Hope Tribal Community Centre, a key location for women passing through on their way to market. Meals consisting of non-milled rice, dahl curry, boiled eggs, and multivitamins will be offered to women and their children, helping to alleviate hunger and improve overall health.
There are two long-term goals of the project:
The Opportunity
For just $500, Games 4 Good can help provide 700 meals, drastically improving the health and quality of life for the Kondh Dongria community. Through this initiative, we can reduce food insecurity, promote better health, and offer long-term support to those in need. Regular monitoring and health evaluations will ensure the program’s ongoing success and impact, ultimately leading to a stronger, healthier community.
